Boca Grande Cruise

From March 21–24, members of the Cape Coral Cruise Club charted a course for Boca Grande Marina for a relaxed and laughter-filled escape. Commodore Harry Hargreaves and his First Mate, Dory, aboard One Grand, did a stellar job organizing a weekend that struck the perfect balance between planned fun and carefree cruising.

By Saturday afternoon, boats were easing into their slips, lines were secured, and before long, the familiar and much-anticipated call of “Docktails!” echoed across the marina. Gathered at the picnic benches, members swapped stories (some more “enhanced” than others), signed up for activities, and eased into the weekend spirit.

That evening’s marina potluck brought everyone together for a casual dockside feast, where side dishes were shared, proteins were grilled, and nobody left hungry—or thirsty. As always, the laughter flowed just as freely as the beverages.

Sunday morning began with a continental breakfast aboard One Grand, where bagels, yogurt, juice, and plenty of coffee helped fuel the day ahead. From there, the day was wide open for adventure—or relaxation.

Some members took to the island by golf cart, exploring Boca Grande’s charming streets, while others opted for a classic Southwest Florida beach day. Armed with umbrellas, cabanas, and all the necessary provisions, they set up their own little slice of paradise along the shoreline—proof that our group knows how to do “leisurely” just as well as we do “lively.”

As the sun dipped lower, everyone reconvened for Docktails before heading to dinner at Eagle Grille & Miller’s Dockside. With waterfront views, great food, and even better company, it was one of those evenings that reminds us why we love this boating life.

Monday continued the easygoing theme with a “choose your own adventure” kind of day. After breakfast on their own, members spent time enjoying the marina, the island, or simply relaxing aboard.

Docktails once again brought the group together—because some traditions are simply non-negotiable—followed by dinner at South Beach Bar & Grill, timed perfectly to take in the “golden hour” and beautiful Boca sunset.

By Tuesday morning, it was time to cast off and head for home. With calm seas and plenty of memories in the logbook, members departed mid-morning, already looking forward to the next cruise.

March Lunch Bunch

Our March Lunch Bunch gathering dropped anchor at Olive Garden, where 12 members, including 2 prospective members, enjoyed a leisurely afternoon filled with good food, laughter, and the kind of conversations that somehow always find their way back to boating.

Welcome Aboard!

The Cape Coral Cruise Club is always excited to welcome fellow boating enthusiasts, and we are pleased to introduce three new member couples who have recently joined our club family: Jim Vaughan and Lexi Curyk, Bob and Laurel Fawcett, and David and Sharon Talkington.  We look forward to sharing many cruises, dockside gatherings, and island adventures together as they become part of our fun-loving community on the water.

Coming Up Next

Twelve boats from the Cape Coral Cruise Club will soon be heading out on an extended ten-day adventure to the Florida Keys, with planned stops in Marco Island, Everglades City, Key West, and Marathon.  With a journey like this, there are sure to be plenty of stories, laughter, and memorable moments along the way. Stay tuned– full details from this exciting cruise will be featured in next month’s issue!
